Here are a couple of pictures from when Damon was in the hospital and before the surgery. Also he was the one asking me to take all these pictures. He loves to look back on stuff like this. When he was in his first wreck, one of the firefighters grabbed their camera and took pictures of the accident scene and Damon couldn't wait to get his hands on those. Dr. Fakhri also recorded most of Damon's surgery and showed us at the last visit. Damon can't wait till the appointment on the 22nd to get a copy of all of those videos.
Damon putting on his nice tights for the surgery. This things were nice! lol As you can tell, we were all smiles and great going in.
This is a hose that was blowing warm air into his gown so that it would warm up his body temp for the surgery. All the new things that they come up with.
A very out of it Damon after surgery. It wasn't only a long 7.5 hour surgery for us waiting, it was a long 7.5 hours for his poor body. So glad to have him with us!!
Here is a very tired Damon. He basically looked like this the first 3 days of our 5 day hospital stay. And not much better on day 4.
Yay, he finally got to get up and sit in a chair and eat! He was so tired of laying in that hospital bed. Still pretty out of it though.
Finally getting to get up and use his legs. He was done laying in the bed and sitting in the chair. Oh and that is not an IV bag that he is holding. It is actually what is holding the Cerebrospinal Fluid that they drained out of his back every 2 hours. They would drain 10 cc every 2 hours so that the repair didn't have the full pressure pushing up against it. So there was a drain in his spine that allowed the fluid to be drained. And no, your CSF is not that color of green or even green. The Neurosurgeon put a dye into Damon's CSF at the beginning of the procedure to see where it was leaking from. He inserted the dye through the drain. The green helped them see it since it is normally a clear fluid. Damon's CSF is actually clear now, it doesn't take long for it to return to the natural color.
